Gavin Free is an English actor, cinematographer, director, and YouTube personality. He’s best known for his slow-motion videos and for his work as a creative director for Rooster Teeth. Free starred in the film, Lazer Team (2015), and appeared in Let’s Play Live: The Documentary (2015). He’s had tremendous success with the web series, The Slow Mo Guys, Red vs. Blue, Immersion, and YouTube Rewind. Gavin David Free was born on May 23, 1988, in Oxfordshire, England. CAREER
Free began his career with the production company ‘Green Door Films’ in 2006. During his tenure, he used high-speed cameras called “Phantom Cam” to create super slow-motion videos. His early works were showcased in music videos for Enter Shikari, U2, and The Chemical Brothers among others. He also worked on several commercials. Free joined the creative team at Rooster Teeth Productions in 2009. His first major project was as a director for season 7 of ‘Red vs. Blue’. In 2008, Free joined Rooster Teeth’s video gaming division ‘Achievement Hunter’ as a contract host. He was promoted to one of their main hosts in 2012. Achievement Hunter was founded in July 2008 by Geoff Ramsey and Jack Pattillo. They’re best known for the video series “Let’s Play”, and for the podcast “Off Topic”. Free voiced the character “Vav” for the series X-Ray and Vav (2014-15), and “Scarlet David” for RWBY (2015). He was featured in the YouTube Rewind series from 2013 to 2015. His web credits also include Immersion, Ten Little Roosters, Happy Hour, and The Super Slow Show. He was featured in the music videos for “Odds Are” and “Did I Say That Out Loud?” by the Barenaked Ladies rock band.

Free was cast as “Woody” in the sci-fi action comedy, Lazer Team (2015). The film was directed by Matt Hullum and also stars Burnie Burns and Michael Jones. The role of Woody was reprised in Lazer Team 2 (2017). Free served as the slow-motion cinematographer for Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) starring Chris Hemsworth, and for Dredd (2012), with Karl Urban. He also worked on the films Hot Fuzz (2007), and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011).
